In late June I received the exciting news from UpNext that my application was chosen as one of two businesses to utilize the brand new and beautiful space at 206 Main Street in Gloucester. Through grants and lots of hardwork and planning by Action Inc., UpNext, Cape Ann Chamber and the City of Gloucester this space is available for women and minority business owners to rent at a discounted rate for a 2.5 month time frame.
Selling online has been convenient in some ways while raising a toddler but it has definitely proven to be challenging and my dream has always been to have a store. The support I received with online sales was really inspiring but the work it takes to make a sale behind the scenes can be grueling. When I saw this opportunity I was nervous but knew that this was the only next step for Beached Goods.

One of my favorite parts of launching my business was getting to converse with customers, even though it has primarily been online. Gloucester is one of my most favorite communities on the North Shore, so the location was an added bonus. Wendy Lattof from Create and Escape Studios was the second business chosen to occupy the space alongside us.
Wendy and her lovely daughter Abby became quick friends and we have really worked together to make this space feel like it has always belonged here on the shore. We want all shoppers to feel welcomed and appreciated and I truly believe there is something in the shop for everyone.

Most days you'll find Abby at the checkout counter, a true godsend to me as my babysitter has gone back to college and my assistant search continues.
The experience has really been a dream come true since our opening on August 6th. We were received into the neighborhood with open arms and will forever remember our time here.
We recently had a ribbon cutting hosted by Mayor Verga attended by several local and state government officials as well as the entire team from UpNext.
We were also recently featured in the Gloucester Times as well as Boston Globe, another truly unexpected milestone for Beached Goods as we celebrate our first sale anniversary this week.
Make sure to stop in during our time here in Gloucester–we would love to see you. We are currently open Tuesday-Friday 11-5 and Saturdays 11-3. We will be hosting pop up events featuring other local shops throughout the fall so stay tuned for what’s to come. We will be at the space through October 15, 2022.
